Welcome to the 2nd Annual Transcultural Leadership Award

On 28 April 2008, INSEAD held the 2nd Annual Transcultural Leadership Award, which was established in 2007 by Dean Frank Brown to recognise those individuals who believe in the importance and the necessity of working across cultures.

This year, INSEAD was pleased to honour Carlos Ghosn, President & CEO, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., and President & CEO, Renault SA., as the recipient of the 2008 Annual Transcultural Leadership Award.

Born in Brazil, Mr. Ghosn joined Nissan as COO in June 1999, became President in June 2000, and was named CEO in June 2001. In May 2005, Mr. Ghosn was named President & CEO, Renault SA. Heading the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Mr. Ghosn is responsible for two separate companies with combined annual global sales of 6.1 million vehicles. He holds degrees from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Mines de Paris.

Mr. Ghosn was presented the award at the Award Dinner which was held on the 28 April at the Racquet & Tennis Club, 370 Park Avenue, New York City, New York.

The 1st Annual Transcultural Leadership Award was presented at the Award Dinner in April 2007, in New York, to John Thain and Jean-François Théodore of the NYSE Euronext for their twin-pillared leadership approach in the creation of the first truly global financial marketplace.
